Patrick - Sprawled Out

The blog about sprawl/community I looked at was titled "Sprawled Out: The Search for Community in the American Suburb." It was about what was going on in the blogger's home town in respect to the planning and building of an addition to the town. There was some history about what a major road used to be used for and then what it was used for now after some modifications. Most of the changes were due to sprawl and made the town more like the rest of sprawl America.

There are also other smaller blogs about other towns or cities and what is going on inside of them. For example there is one about Portland and how they are dealing with sprawl, mainly with the trolley lines and the biking ability of everyone.

He uses these examples to try to get his point across to the readers. From what I could tell, the blogger is against suburban sprawl. He uses pictures to show the bad aspects of sprawl and the good aspects of those areas that do not have sprawl. There is one picture of a woman riding a bike in Portland with a smile on her face. This is done to try to convince the reader that sprawl is bad and that those who live away from sprawl are happy. Some people feel that if others are happy then it must be good, so the blogger is trying to get the readers to think anti-sprawl is good and that we should try to get away from the idea of suburban sprawl.
